Trafficked - Routes to Slavery - Centro Cultural OKENDO KULTUR ETXEA, Donostia 2018
Spain, a business that circulates around five million Euros every day. Spanish law focuses on the dismantling of prostitution networks in a Comprehensive Plan that was updated in 2015. It provides comprehensive assistance to victims, but experience shows that it is not enough, due to the complexity of the problem. and the little resources available.
To intervene in the trafficking and to be able to reach these women and girls, action must be taken on diverse social fronts. The Palermo Protocol considers three areas: Preventing trafficking, Punishing traffickers and Protecting the victims.
As an association of artists sensitized to the abuse and violence suffered by women, we feel the need to carry out educational work to raise awareness and denounce the problem, which annihilates the dignity of thousands of women and normalizes the idea that a women's body can be used and abused with impunity.
Our project is a work of denunciation and reflection on the humiliations and violence to which trafficked women are subjected. We understand that it is a cultural problem that concerns us all, because it is inherently linked to the issue of personal freedom and respect for the lives of women.
